Myrtos Beach - Kefalonia's Most Famous Beach

How do I get to Myrtos Beach?

Myrtos Beach is located on the northwest coast of Kefalonia, about 30km from Argostoli. The beach is accessible by car with parking available. The road down to the beach is steep and winding with many hairpin turns, so caution is advised. There is no public transport directly to the beach.

What makes Myrtos Beach special?

Myrtos Beach is renowned for its stunning white pebbles and dramatic cliffs. The contrast between the bright white stones and the deep turquoise waters creates one of the most photographed landscapes in Greece. The beach has been featured in several films and consistently ranks among Europe's most beautiful beaches.

Myrtos Beach stretches approximately 800 meters along the coast between the cliffs of Agia Dynati and Kalon Oros. The beach faces northwest which means it gets spectacular sunsets. The waters are crystal clear but can be rough at times due to the beach's exposed location.

The beach has basic facilities including sunbeds and umbrellas for rent during peak season, and a small canteen serving drinks and snacks. There are no showers or changing facilities. The best time to visit is early morning before the crowds arrive or late afternoon when the light is perfect for photography.

Nearby attractions include the traditional village of Divarata perched above the beach, and the Melissani Cave about 45 minutes drive to the east. For more travel information, see our Getting Here guide and check the weather conditions before visiting.
