About Melissani Cave in Kefalonia

The caves have been here since mythical times when they were said to be inhabited by Nymphs.  First explored in the modern era in 1951 they were renowned for their clear waters, but it is the opening in the roof caused by an earthquake that has caused them to become an amazing cathedral of light visited by amazing people from all over the world.

About melissani-cave.com

While there is plenty of information about Kefalonia in general there was never a dedicated website about it, so we decided to create one with the key facts you as a visitor to the island and to the cave would required.  This website is not an official guide nor officially connected with the caves.

Do contact us if you have any thoughts on other things that we should explain or discuss!
